New documentary "Return to Life" features Neuro-Acupuncture Institute's success with challenging neurological conditions

SANTA FE, NM ? A new documentary by Doug Dearth, director of the award-winning documentary “9000 Needles,” highlights the Neuro-Acupuncture Institute and Drs. Jason and Linda Hao’s groundbreaking therapy for challenging neurological disorders. Through interviews with the Hao’s, Western medical practitioners and patients who have benefitted from neuro-acupuncture, “Return to Life” documents the life-changing results this technique has had on debilitating neurological diseases, including stroke, spinal cord injury, post-traumatic stress disorder, multiple sclerosis and autism.

Neuroacupuncture is a contemporary acupuncture technique integrating traditional Chinese needling methods and Scalp Acupuncture with Western medical knowledge of neurology, neuroscience, and neurological rehabilitation. The film traces how Dr. Jason Jishun Hao, DOM, MBA, and Dr. Linda Lingzhi Hao, DOM, PhD, developed this unique approach that is rethinking and remodeling acupuncture’s role in today’s modern medicine and how they have teamed up with Western medicine doctors and practitioners to successfully treat patients with chronic neurological conditions.

At the film’s core are stories shared by patients and family members who have benefited from neuro-acupuncture: a multiple sclerosis patient who regained his vision and his balance; a spinal cord injury patient given a one percent chance of walking again celebrating his ability to use a walker; a mother’s reaction to hearing her child with spinocerebellar ataxia and autism speak for the first time; a veteran diagnosed with traumatic brain injury and PTSD who has been freed from night terrors and pain.

The video also chronicles the Neuro-Acupuncture Institute’s efforts to train more doctors and practitioners in this life changing, and oftentimes, lifesaving medicine.

“My mission with this film is to inspire the public with hope,” said Dr. Jason Hao. “Families and their loved ones suffering from difficult neurological disorders don’t have to suffer the rest of their life. With just a few needles we can reduce the burden from these diseases. We want to transform their life, change their life and help them to return to life. If this pandemic has taught us anything it is that we are all in this world together and we need to help each other.”
