Foot Levelers on Track to Reach $250,000 Goal

$140K Raised for Colleges and State Associations "Seminars in Support" Slated to Help Fund HCFA Lawsuit

By Editorial Staff
As it nears its golden anniversary (50 years in business), Foot Levelers, Inc., of Roanoke, Virginia set a goal to raise $250,000 for the chiropractic colleges and state associations before the end of the year. More than $140,000 has already been raised from its "Spring 2001 Seminar Series" held throughout the U.S. and Canada.

"Doctors attending our 2001 spring seminars helped raise more than $60,000 for the colleges, while receiving the opportunity to renew their licenses," reported Kent Greenawalt, president of Foot Levelers. The remainder of the funds have been donated money to the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations on behalf of each member association participating in the program.

The seminars were co-sponsored by Northwestern Health Sciences University; Cleveland College of Chiropractic; Parker College of Chiropractic; New York College of Chiropractic; Palmer College of Chiropractic; and Logan College of Chiropractic. The seminar subjects included: subluxation management; chiropractic orthopedics; radiography; extremity adjusting; rehabilitation; sports chiropractic; neurology; aging; and the Thompson technique.

The "Fall 2001 Seminar Series" will be the company's final group of speaking engagements before its golden anniversary next year. It will be punctuated by speakers Mark Charrette,DC (lower extremity adjusting); William Esteb (patient communication); Patrick Gentempo,DC ("Incredible Power of Uncommon Commitment");William Austin,DC,CCSP,CCRD (spinal pelvis stabilization); Steven Troyanovich, DC (postural rehabilitation); and several others. It will be co-sponsored by New York Chiropractic College and Cleveland Chiropractic College.

Fighting to Protect Chiropractic

Foot Levelers has a second fundraising project: to help fund the ACA's legal action against the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and its Medicare Part C regulations. Foot Levelers is sponsoring a series of license-renewal "Seminars in Support." Every registration dollar collected from this series will go to the legal action fund/HCFA lawsuit.

DCs can earn 12 hours of license renewal credit, and can choose three locations: Chicago, Illinois (Sept. 15-16); Charlotte, North Carolina (Oct. 13-14); and Baltimore, Maryland (Nov. 3-4). Featured speakers are Steven Yeomans, DC,FACO ("An Outcomes-Based Approach to the Chiropractic Practice"), and Kim Christensen,DC,CCSP,DACRB ("Implementation of Outcomes Assessment Case Management in the Chiropractic Practice").

"We feel that this legal effort is so important that we have pledged to help in any way we can, including getting as many chiropractors as possible involved," said Mr. Greenawalt.
