"Supercharging" the Immune System

By John Amaro, LAc, DC, Dipl. Ac.(NCCAOM), Dipl.Med.Ac.(IAMA)
It used to be that the health concerns of most people were to keep from catching the cold or flu; now it's AIDS, "Four Corners disease," and Epstein-Barr virus, along with a host of viral and bacterial invasions which have given a rather rude wake-up call to the nation, if not the world.

The acupuncture points illustrated here are the creme de la creme of the acupoints used specifically for boosting the immune system to its full capacity. Space in this article does not permit me to elaborate on each and every one of the points, but if you simply use the enclosed points in a general sense by stimulating them on your patients, and by all means remember your family as well as yourself, you will supercharge your immune system like no other technique.

Recognizing that there are numerous nutritional and other approaches to boosting the immune system, this recommendation is not intended to be used as the ultimate cure-all, however, even alone, it is an incredible approach.

Should you be fortunate enough to be using He Ne laser in your practice, you are several steps above someone who does not. If your state law permits the use of needles, they are highly recommended. Any noninvasive approach to these points will have a wonderful effect, some forms of stimulation for certain conditions are just better than others.

I have found a nonpiercing teishein or piezo electric device is extremely beneficial and acceptable for the chiropractic profession in any state that permits physiotherapy.

It is highly advised to treat everyone you care about, at least four times a year using the points shown here. The Asians have always said, especially at the master level of competence, that everyone should have maintenance treatments whenever the "universe changes": that is to say, when summer becomes fall, fall turns to winter, when winter becomes spring, and spring turns to summer. This is when the universe changes and we, being part of that universe, likewise experience changes.

Keep this article in a very safe place and refer to it often. What is on this page may very well save the life of someone you truly care for.

Correction:

In Dr. Amaro's Jan. 14 article, "Joyful Sleep," some the acupuncture points for insomnia were mislabeled.
