NY Chiro Council Awards Scholarship

The New York Chiropractic Council, in conjunction with the Nuzzi Financial Network, awarded the second annual chiropractic student scholarship to New York Chiropractic College student Angela Leone.

The $1,000 check was presented by Mr. James Nuzzi, president of the Nuzzi Financial Network at the Council's annual convention.

Interns Granted Hospital Grand Round Privileges

Dr. Alan Friedman, NYCC dean of clinics, recently announced that NYCC has been granted hospital grand rounds at Nassau County Medical Center beginning in September. The community hospital's dean of academic affairs was open to the idea of other approaches to health care being introduced to the facility, and will be supervising the program. Dr. Friedman will select interns based on their demonstration of clinical and professional skills and knowledge. Interns will spend up to four hours per week on hospital grand rounds with MDs in areas such immunology, respiratory, obstetrics-gynecology, psychiatry, and internal medicine.

 



Alumni Assoc. Gives $5,000 for Research to College

"The purpose of the Alumni Association is to serve the school, our membership, and the profession," said Dr. Serge Nerli, association president, upon announcing the $5,000 donation for research at the college.

The association's board of directors has established a new committee to serve as a funding source for chiropractic research. Dr. Thomas Ventimiglia of the Levittown Health Center will chair the research committee and will work with Director of Research Dr. Wesley Canfield to monitor the use and distribution of the funds designated to support NYCC research department projects.

 



"Natural Health Matters" Radio Show

"Natural Health Matters," airing on WEOS 89.7 FM in upstate New York, is the result of a combined effort by NYCC and Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York. The show is designed and produced by Jim Rizzo, an NYCC student, with the assistance of the NYCC communications office, and with the help of the college's faculty, and alumni. The purpose is to relay information to the general audience on alternative health care to increase awareness of chiropractic and other health professions.

 



Educational Video Series

"The Chiropractor's Guide to Patient Assessment Methods Series: The Patient History and the Physical Examination" is a chiropractic-oriented video series by NYCC to assist the students in learning history taking and enhancing physical examination skills. Written and produced by Lana Feldman, RN, DC, assistant professor of clinical sciences at NYCC, the video was filmed on the Seneca Falls campus and features students in their 6th, 7th, and 10 trimesters.
