Standard Process Continues to Support Foundation for Chiropractic Progress

Standard Process, Inc., has pledged more than $250,000 to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress to support the foundation's national educational initiatives. The company already has been a generous supporter of the foundation, contributing in excess of $100,000 in prior donations.

"Standard Process has been committed to the chiropractic profession since 1929.

We fully support this important program that will educate the public about the quality of care and clinical expertise available from chiropractors," said Charles C. DuBois, president of Standard Process and chairman of the product and service suppliers committee for the foundation.

Standard Process is one of a growing list of chiropractic organizations and vendors that have pledged considerable financial support for the foundation. National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company (NCMIC) and Foot Levelers have led the way with $1 million contributions. In late 2006, the Association of Chiropractic Colleges pledged $50,000 to be distributed over a three year period. Supportive state chiropractic associations include Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Colorado, New Jersey, Ohio, Oklahoma, Virginia, Georgia, New York, South Dakota and North Carolina. Chiropractic product and service providers such as Anabolic Laboratories, Breakthrough Coaching, Chirocode Institute and GMP Fitness also have been generous financial contributors. The foundation's national educational campaign continues to expand, with its first television commercial airing Jan. 6 and 7, 2007 during the Fox Network's presentation of the 2007 Ms. Fitness USA contest. The commercial, featuring Ms. Fitness USA 2006 Sarah Harding, aired again on Jan. 15, when FOX re-ran the contest. The foundation believes an estimated 150 million households across the nation viewed the commercial.

The foundation kicked off its advertising campaign last July with regional print ads in four major publications. In the past few months, the ad has appeared in national issues of Newsweek, Business Week, U.S. News & World Report and The New York Times Magazine. Health magazine is running the ad in its Jan/Feb 2007 issue, which hit newsstands Jan. 5, and Newsweek is running the ad in its Feb. 12, 2007 issue, available Feb. 5.


Foundation Introduces Personalized Fitness Calendar

In other news, the foundation recently introduced a free, online calendar filled with simple and enjoyable action steps to help patients bring the four healthy living pillars (physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being) into greater focus.

"Health and fitness related resolutions are common for many people, but these goals often are sidetracked by unnecessary and painful injury," said Gerard W. Clum, DC, president of Life Chiropractic College West and foundation board member. "After a long period of inactivity, many people are too aggressive with an exercise regimen and should take their time in getting back to an exercise routine. Otherwise, a routine-stopping injury is likely, making it even harder to get back on the right track down the road."
