Dr. Marc Malon Appointed to Maine Board of Chiropractic Licensure
Logan College of Chiropractic has announced that Dr. Marc G. Malon, former chairman of the Logan board of trustees, has been appointed to the Maine Board of Chiropractic Licensure by Governor John E.
Dr. Malon's appointment to a three-year term on the board, which meets approximately four times a year, took effect on Sept. 25, 2007. Dr. Malon maintains a chiropractic practice in Biddeford, Maine.
Dr. Malon is a 1981 graduate of Logan College. He first became a trustee in 1997 and served as chairman from 2005 to 2007, during which time the college embarked on a $22.7 million building program on its St. Louis campus. He is a past president of the Maine Chiropractic Association (MCA) and served as a delegate to the American Chiropractic Association.
In 1995, Dr. Malon was chosen as the MCA "Chiropractor of the Year." He serves on numerous Biddeford-area boards and is active with local charitable organizations. He is also a Fellow of the American Back Society.
New President of Colorado Chiropractic Association
Dr. James M. Farrell, a doctor of chiropractic practicing in Golden, Colo., recently was elected president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association (CCA). He was nominated and chosen by his fellow doctors practicing in Colorado.
A member of the CCA since 1992, Dr. Farrell has been extremely active with the CCA since 1999. He served as a committee chair, board member and executive board member prior to his election as CCA president. In addition, he was named 2000 Young Chiropractor of the Year, 2007 Chiropractor of the Year and received the CCA President's Award in 2005 and 2007. He chaired the CCA Public Relations Committee from 1999 to 2003 and from 2005 to 2007. In 2006, he created and organized a successful chiropractic ad campaign with needchiro.com billboards appearing in the Denver Metro area and Colorado Springs.
After experiencing his first chiropractic adjustment in 1990, Dr. Farrell decided to become a doctor of chiropractic. He entered Palmer Chiropractic College in Davenport, Iowa, in 1992 at the age of 40, and graduated in 1995. He has maintained a private practice in Golden, Colo., since that time.
CCCKC Supports World Spine Day
Throughout the month of October, the Cleveland Chiropractic College-Kansas City (CCCKC) fostered awareness of chiropractic and proper spinal health in the Kansas City metropolitan area by participating in numerous health fairs and by educating the public on the "Straighten Up America" program. One of the main events the college took part in, along with millions worldwide, was in promoting spinal health as part of World Spine Day on Oct. 16.
Overall, CCCKC participated in three special events in recognition of World Spine Day and to facilitate the promotion of the Straighten Up health program. Dr. Jeffrey Miller, chair of clinical sciences, represented the college in a television appearance on the local NBC affiliate's morning show, "KC Live." Miller was joined by CCCKC student intern Kristee Metts and her 4-year-old daughter, Haley. The two complemented Miller's discussion of World Spine Day and spinal health by demonstrating exercises from the Straighten Up America program.
"The college is proud to have been an active participant in supporting 'World Spine Day' and taking the opportunity to educate the public on the importance of spinal health as it relates to our approach to wellness," Beckley said. "Encouraging the public to be aware of their posture and of the role exercise plays in maintaining a healthy spine is an important part of our message."
That message was repeated throughout the month as the college took part in health lectures at several assisted-living homes and homes for battered women. Representatives from CCCKC also were on hand at the Kansas City Zoo's annual "Boo at the Zoo" celebration, where they passed out Halloween candy and distributed Straighten Up America brochures.
