$1 Million Donation to Logan

Logan University has announced plans to renovate and expand its Science Research Center (newly renamed the Fuhr Science Center), and renovate portions of its Administrative Center, courtesy of a $1 million donation from Dr. Arlan Fuhr and his wife, Judi Fuhr.

"Logan University provides a strong education rooted in science, research and evidence, and its graduates are solid and balanced in their practice," said Dr. Fuhr in a Logan press release announcing the donation. "I've dedicated my career to innovation so that we, as chiropractors, can help patients improve their health, and it's an honor to give back to the university that has given me so much."

Dr. Fuhr, a 1961 graduate of Logan, is the founder and chairman of Activator Methods International, and co-inventor of the Activator Adjusting Instrument and the Activator Method Chiropractic Technique.

In other Logan news, the university recently introduced a Master of Science in Strength & Conditioning, set to commence with the summer 2022 trimester; while Lee Van Dusen, DC, vice president of strategic performance & continuous improvement, was named to the board of examiners for the 2021 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award - the nation's highest honor for organizational innovation and performance excellence. The director of the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology made the appointment.


NCMIC Foundation Awards Grant for U. of Minnesota Fellowship Program

The Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing at the University of Minnesota is the recipient of a grant from the NCMIC Foundation that will allow the center to continue its Integrative Health Research (IHR) Fellowship Program.

The program, established in 2018 with an original grant from the NCMIC Foundation, is designed to "[increase] the quality and quantity of chiropractic and complementary and integrative health (CIH) research," according to the foundation. "The program fills a critical need by providing comprehensive, individualized, ‘bridge' training for promising chiropractors and CIH professionals seeking research careers."


TCC W.D. Harper Award Winners

The Texas Chiropractic College Board of Regents recently honored Drs. Jose A. Simon, John A. Felker III, and Monte Blue with the W.D. Harper Award, named after Dr. William D. Harper, college president from 1965 to 1976. Drs. Simon and Felker III received the award for 2020, while Dr. Blue received the 2021 award. The honor is bestowed annually to "a candidate who has contributed significantly to the institution, provided excellent service to the organization, and overall has gone above and beyond."


ICA Council's Researcher of the Year

The International Chiropractic Association (ICA) Upper Cervical Council's 2021 researcher of the year is Dr. Christie Kwon, Life University alumna and faculty member. Dr. Kwon also serves on the Institutional Review Board and Research Track Advisory Board, and as research chair of Life's College of Chiropractic; board member and research fellow of the Foundation for Vertebral Subluxation; and Clinical Advisory Panel member of the Australian Spinal Research Foundation.


Standard Process: 375,000 & Counting

Standard Process donated 77,000 meals to a nationwide network of food banks as part of its annual "One Day, One Bottle, One Meal" event, which launched in 2016 and has resulted in more than 375,000 meals donated thus far.

The 2021 donation supports Feeding America.
