A Name Change for NYCC

New York Chiropractic College is now Northeast College of Health Sciences. The new name, approved by the state in early June, "was chosen to best reflect the transforming scope of educational opportunities offered at the College and to support the evolving range of growing healthcare professions," according to the college.

This is not the first name change for the institution – the college originally formed as the Columbia Institute of Chiropractic in 1919. It took the name New York Chiropractic College in the 1970s, when it received CCE accreditation for its DC program.


Replacement Vice Chair of WFC Research Committee Named

Dr. Sidney Rubenstein is the new vice chair of the World Federation of Chiropractic's Research Committee, named to fill the vacancy left in September 2020 when then-vice chair Dr. Christine Goertz assumed the chair position. Dr. Rubenstein, whose research often focuses on the clinical effectiveness of interventions for musculoskeletal disorders, "is perhaps best known for his systematic reviews ... These types of reviews represent the crucial link in the practice of evidence-based health care." He joined the committee in February 2021.


Life University President, Board Chair Honored by FCLB

Life University President Dr. Rob Scott and Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Kevin Fogerty received the 2020 Dr. Joseph Janse Award and the 2021 George Arvidson Award for Meritorious Service to Chiropractic, respectively, at the Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards' annual meeting. The Arvidson Award is the FCLB's highest individual honor, while the Janse Award includes the "opportunity to speak during the Joseph Janse Lecture Series delivered to chiropractic licensing regulators and the profession at large," according to the university.
