Bobsledding and Chiropractic Unite at Winter Olympics
As of press time, Dr. Todd Riddle, associate professor and director of rehab at Texas Chiropractic College, was poised to serve as a member of the sports medicine staff for the Nigerian women's bobsled team at this year's Winter Olympics.
"I am beyond honored to be participating in this very historic Olympic games and would like to express my gratitude for the team and the Nigerian Olympic Federation for this opportunity," said Dr. RIddle.
Canada Takes on the Opioid Crisis
Canada suffers from the second-highest opioid prescribing rate in the world (behind the U.S., of course), a sobering statistic that may change in the wake of "Reducing the Role of Opioids in Pain Management," an interim report from The Coalition for Safe and Effective Pain Management. The report, a final version of which will be released later this year, calls for nondrug pain management to be embedded as part of essential health care, and the integration of nondrug pain management in primary care settings, among other strategy recommendations.
