More Honors for Life Coaches

Life's athletic director and basketball coach, Roger Kaiser, has been inducted into the Indiana Hall of Fame.

The college's international sports director and cross-country coach, Mike Spino, has been named the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame Co-Coach of the Year.

Roger Kaiser started his career in one of America's premier basketball hotbeds as a four-year letterman and an All-Star team member at Indiana's Dale High School. He went on to become a three-year starter at Georgia Tech and was selected MVP, all-SEC twice, and All-American in 1960 and 1961. He enjoyed a pro career in the now-defunct American Basketball Association as a member of the Washington, New York and Philadelphia teams.

Highlights of his coaching career include more than 500 victories, and directed the West Georgia College Braves to a national championship in 1974, the first such collegiate title in Georgia history. He was named head coach and athletic director at Life in 1991.

Coach Kaiser has been named conference coach of the year eight times, state coach of the year five times, and NAIA Southeast Independent Coach of the Year in 1995 and 1996. He was inducted into the Georgia Athletic Hall of Fame in 1984.

A recording setting track athlete in high school and at Syracuse University, Coach Mike Spino is an author, teacher, coach, and was director of the Esalen Sports Center for seven years. He was head cross country coach at Georgia Tech from 1981-86 and was named Georgia Coach of the Year in 1983-84. His 1985-86 team set every Georgia Tech relay record in a single season.

Coach Spino has supervised the development of Life's international sports complex, which includes a state-of-the-art stadium and a five mile cross-country course. He has been NAIA Division II Coach of the Year for Georgia for the last three years, and in 1995 was named NAIA Coach of the Year for Cross-Country and Co-Coach of the Year for NAIA Division II/III for all sports.
