Dr. Louis Sportelli, secretary/treasurer for the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC), one of the most well known and respected chiropractors in the profession, presented the keynote address at New York Chiropractic College's March commencement ceremony.
An international presence for chiropractic, Dr. Sportelli has been the profession's omnipresent spokesman, appearing on the "CBS Evening News," CNN, "20/20," "Inside Edition," and in Time magazine, the New York Times, USA Today, Cosmopolitan, among others. Formerly the chairman of the ACA Board (1989-90), Dr. Sportelli was named ACA's "Chiropractor of the Year" in 1992, has authored numerous textbooks for the profession, and has delivered well over 30 commencement and homecoming addresses at various colleges across the country.
NYCC Hosts Special Olympics Hockey Championships
Sixteen teams participated in the New York State Special Olympics Section V Poly and Floor Hockey Championships at NYCC's Athletic Center. NYCC has been hosting Special Olympics events for two years, and will host the organization's 1997 Fall State Championships in soccer, softball, bicycling, and cross country.
Special Olympians train and compete in 38 areas across New York state, with the help of a network of 20,000 dedicated volunteers, including more than 4,000 certified coaches.
NYCC Alum and Instructor Authors Book
Russ Ebbets, DC, a 1992 NYCC graduate and an instructor in the college's clinical studies program, is the author of Supernova, a recently published book of short stories recounting the author's days as a runner at Villanova University in the early '70s.
