Chiropractic's for Kids, Too: Remembering Dr. Jeanne Ohm

By Editorial Staff

Jeanne Ohm, DC, longtime chief executive officer of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association, has passed away. The following tribute to Dr. Ohm is reprinted with permission from the ICPA:

Jeanne Ohm was a chiropractor, author and educator. She was the mother of six and grandmother to eight. She was the CEO of the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), creator and editor of Pathways magazine, and a leader in the chiropractic profession. She was a colleague and friend to countless people in the natural birth and natural health communities. Her energy and enthusiasm for life touched so many, and she will continue to inspire us into the future.

Jeanne was born and raised on Long Island and grew up having known her husband, Tom, since the second grade. They attended chiropractic school together and after graduating in 1981, opened a home office in Media, Pennsylvania, where they practiced side by side. They were married for over 41 years. Always balancing work and her growing family, Jeanne began serving the ICPA after her friend and mentor, Dr. Larry Webster, passed away in 1997.

During her 17 years as CEO of the ICPA, she expanded membership from 500 to over 6,000 chiropractors. She developed and taught the Webster Certification course, certifying nearly 10,000 chiropractors in this technique. She inspired chiropractors across the world to care for pregnant mothers and babies by honoring women throughout their pregnancy and motherhood, and supporting a woman's right to make informed choices for her family.

She is beloved and will be missed by many and remembered forever by her family and friends.

In addition to her role with the ICPA, Dr. Ohm served on the Life Chiropractic College – West Board of Regents (2012-), chairing the board's Academic Affairs Committee; and was a staunch advocate for women's advancement in chiropractic, receiving the 2015 Legacy Award from the League of Chiropractic Women.
