Bidding Farewell to a Matriarch of the Profession

The chiropractic profession is mourning the loss of one of its matriarchs: Nell K. Williams, BS, DC ("Dr. Nell"), the "first lady" of Life Chiropractic College and Life University. A 1956 graduate of Palmer College, Dr. Nell passed away peacefully in her sleep on Aug. 16, 2019, at the age of 92.

With her husband, Dr. Sid Williams, Life Chiropractic College became a reality in 1974. With Dr. Sid as president, Dr. Nell served as senior vice president and dean of student affairs at the institution for more than a quarter of a century.

Even after her retirement, Dr. Nell continued working at Life Foundation, the nonprofit entity she and Dr. Sid founded in 1966 that helped launch the chiropractic college. The foundation supports chiropractic research, education and service worldwide.
