Washington Chiropractor Delivers 1,262 Toys to Children's Hospital

Steven Ryan,DC, of Renton, Washington, and his wife, Robin, organized a 1999 Christmas toy drive to benefit the kids staying in Children's Hospital in Seattle.

Their son Jack was hospitalized there for 11 days in 1998 with a severe asthmatic condition.

The couple mailed out postcards to 4,000 patients asking for toy donations, took out an ad in the local paper and distributed flyers to businesses. The doctor's patients were generous, as were the nonpatients who stopped by the clinic to give their offerings.
On December 11, Dr. Ryan, Robin and Jack delivered 1,262 toys to the hospital, the most the hospital had ever received.

"We are just one family who wanted to brighten the lives of hospitalized kids," Dr. Ryan explained. "I couldn't be more pleased that so many of our patients and community helped us do this."
