Busy Lake Tahoe Chiropractor Adds to His Civic Duties

Don Miner,DC, who has a private practice at Stateline, Lake Tahoe, won re-election in November as the Douglas County, Nevada Commissioner (District 4).

As the county representative, he is the vice chairman of the board of directors for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency, and on the boards of the Nevada-Tahoe Conservation District and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority (LTVA). He has been on the LTVA since 1991.

Dr. Miner has just added to his duties. He has been appointed to the board of directors of the Tahoe-Douglas Visitors Authority (TDVA). The TDVA works in conjunction with the LTVA in marketing efforts in South Lake Tahoe. One of the projects that the TDVA will tackle is to secure the Celebrity Golf Championship for the South Shore.

 



Washington State Chiropractic Association Elects President and Bestows Honors

Douglas Nordstrom,DC, was elected president of the Washington State Chiropractic Association (WSCA) at its annual conference on Feb. 20 in Seatac, Washington. Dr. Nordstrom, a magna cum laude graduate from Palmer, has been in practice for 23 years. His practice is located in Marysville.

Leslie Dolezal,DC, has been recognized for his dedication and commitment to the WSCA and the chiropractic profession with the WSCA's "Chiropractor of the Year" award. Over the last 10 years, Dr. Dolezal has been a member and chairman of the WSCA chiropractic advisory committee to the Washington State Dept. of Labor and Industries.

Dr. Dolezal, a Palmer graduate, has been in practice for 35 years. His practice is in Enumclaw.

Leslie White,DC, a charter member of the WSCA, was awarded the "Outstanding Service" award. The honor recognizes Dr. White for his achievements as chairman of the WSCA committee that recommends chiropractic providers to various governmental committees.

Dr. White has been a chiropractic consultant to the state's Dept. of Labor and Industries since 1988, and served a five year appointment to the Washington State Chiropractic Board.

Dr. White has been in practice for 31 years. He operates a practice in Burien. He is a teacher and lecturer, and has published numerous articles.

Joyce Middendorf, the immediate past president of the WSCA, was recognized for her outstanding service during her 1998 tenure. She is a founding member of the WSCA, and was appointed by the governor to serve on the Chiropractic Quality Assurance Commission (1990-1996).

Dr. Middendorf, a graduate of Life College, has been in practice for 16 years. She and her husband, Dave Middendorf,DC, own and operate a practice in Port Orchard.

 



Distinguished Service Awards

Dr. Marc van Driessche, a Lynnwood chiropractor, was recognized for his accomplishments as chairman of the WSCA Sports Council. He is actively involved in semi-pro football as the team physician of the Snohomish County Vikings. He worked with the Puget Sound Jets for one year before joining the Snohomish Vikings.

Dr. van Driessche, a native of Brussels, Belgium, has lived in the U.S. since 1966; he became a citizen in 1973. He graduated with honors from Palmer in 1996.

Dr. Kurt Fuhrmeister, a Bellingham chiropractor, was honored for his work as chairman on the WSCA Medicare committee. He is a 1996 graduate of Palmer.

Dr. Mark van Hemert, a Montesano chiropractor, was recognized for his contributions as chairman of the WSCA evidence-based practices committee.

Dr. van Hemert is a well-known lecturer and author on outcomes management. He has held directorships at the Washington State Spine Institute, and the Council on Chiropractic Practice.

Dr. van Hemert is a Sherman College graduate, and has been in practice for over 20 years.

Dr. Thomas Wellbrook, a Burien chiropractor, was recognized for his efforts to increase chiropractic participation in health fairs throughout western Washington.
