Mr. Flaherty said that he expected the mass mailing to be sent out by September 1, and anticipated a good response. "The chiropractic colleges are reminding doctors about the Centennial at their homecoming celebrations, and doctors are deciding to give," he said.
CCF President Dr. William F. Holmberg was chairman of the Palmer College of Chiropractic (PCC) homecoming celebration this year. "I'm proud to say that DCs gave $55,000 in individual sponsorships to the CCF this year, bringing the total number of funds from individual sponsors to nearly $75,000. All of the colleges are showing their support by rallying behind the CCF's efforts and motivating their alumni to give."
Kentucky Association Joins CCF
The Kentucky Association of Chiropractors and the Kentucky Chiropractic Society are the most recent state associations to join the CCF. This brings the total number of state associations belonging to the CCF to 43.
Five foreign chiropractic associations are members of the Foundation as well: the Asociacion Espanola de Quiropractica (Spain), the British Chiropractic Association, the Chiropractic Council of Japan, the Norwegian Chiropractors' Association, and the Association of Swiss Chiropractors.
"We're still striving to get every state, country, and provincial association to join," said Dr. Holmberg, CCF president. "State association dues are only $1,250, which can be paid in increments. We encourage these state associations to commit to the CCF as grassroots representatives of the Chiropractic Centennial."
CCF Registration Kicks-off in Early 1994
Registration for the Grand Celebration in Washington, D.C. July 5-9, 1995 and in Davenport, Iowa September 13-17, will begin in early 1994. Along with the inaugural registration will be the announcement of the schedule of events to be held at the two locations.
"Because of the magnitude of the celebration, everyone must be registered to receive lodging at the events," said Dr. Holmberg. Each location will have a full schedule of continuing education, trade shows, association meetings, and entertainment. The CCF's Entertainment Committee, headed by David Chapman-Smith, LLB(Hons) and Dr. Roger Hulsebus, is currently conducting a talent search. Consultant Mary Rowe, of the Toronto-based MWR and Associates, was also hired to help with the search. Ms. Rowe has experience with such large-scale events as the 1988 Economics Summit in Toronto.
"We're close to confirming some major entertainers for the Grand Celebration," said Dr. Holmberg.
Anyone interested in the Grand Celebration in 1995 should contact the Centennial Foundation or call the special hot line for information.
"Currently, the CCF has a phone line for people interested in attending the event. Calls received will help determine a preliminary count of those attending," said Dr. Holmberg.
