The CCF held meetings on the Palmer campus throughout the Founder's Day weekend in anticipation of the Chiropractic Centennial Celebration to be held in Davenport and Washington, D.C. Attending these meetings were CCF Board of Trustees members, advisory board members, chiropractic college presidents, and representatives from state and national associations.
Life College Hosts Chiropractic History Conference
The Association for the History of Chiropractic's (AHC) 13th annual conference was held on the Life College campus October 8-10, 1993. Presentations included "The 'Mysterious' Lerner Report of 1952," "Blacks in Chiropractic Education," and "Quo Warranto: Only in California." AHC President Mickey Goldschmidt, DC, opened the conference, and Life College President Dr. Sid Williams welcomed the group to the college's campus.
According to Mildred Kimbrough, DC, AHC vice president and conference event coordinator, the AHC was formed in 1980 to encourage the study and research of chiropractic history, and to preserve the profession's resources. Dr. Kimbrough is also Life College's assistant vice president of administrative services.
Palmer Institute of Research and Grad Studies Hosts Consortium
Chiropractic researchers from all over the country attended the fall meeting of the Consortium for Chiropractic Research at the Palmer Institute of Research and Graduate Studies on October 1-3, 1993. Attendees included deans, directors of research for the chiropractic colleges, and representatives of state and national chiropractic associations.
Florida's Tri-County Chiropractic Society Takes a DARE
The Tri-County Chiropractic Society (TCCS) in Florida has recently joined forces with the Lee County Sheriff's Office to support the efforts of the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program. The TCCS contributed $3,500 toward the restoration of a Chevy Corvette seized from drug traffickers. The vehicle will be painted and marked with the DARE logo and used in parades and exhibits as an example to children that dealing in drugs does not pay. Included on the vehicle is the slogan, "Kids and Chiropractic -- Always Drug Free" in recognition of the TCCS' contribution.
