Hirsh on January 23rd. The ICA plans to continue its national letter-writing campaign to promote H.R. 608.
FCER Commissions CHPG to Study Federal Funding Policies
The Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research (FCER) recently commissioned the consulting firm of Corporate Health Policies Group (CHPG) to research the results of a study examining federal funding policies and their relationship to chiropractic. The organization's findings were released in a 245-page publication which notes the shrinking amount of federal funds and the confusion among federal officials as to what chiropractors do. The CHPG report also outlines four goals for chiropractic: establish and define the chiropractic discipline more clearly; increase chiropractic research capacity; increase communication with investigators, policy makers and health professions outside of chiropractic; and expand the capacity of chiropractic educational institutions.

FCLB Appointment to CCE
The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) recently announced the appointment of Ohio's Peter D. Ferguson, D.C., to the Council on Chiropractic Education (CCE)'s Commission on Accreditation. Dr. Ferguson was appointed to a three-year term from January 1992 to 1995, and takes the place of Robert L. Hatten, D.C., who resigned. Federation appointments are made by the FCLB president and ratified by the federation executive board of directors. Dr. Ferguson joins Dr. Valerio Pasqua of New York as the federation's two voting members of the nine-member Commission on Accreditation.
NBCE Expands Examinee Services
The National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) recently created two new policies to facilitate the examination and application for licensure processes. The first extends the deadline for requesting a change in the designated NBCE test site location. Previously, re-designation of a test sit could be granted only if the request was postmarked by the application late cut-off date seven weeks prior to administration of the exam. Beginning in March, however, written request for test site changes will be granted if postmarked up to four weeks prior to the exam administration date, with a fee of $35. The second policy establishes and "Express Request" service, whereby individuals may phone or mail in a request for special same-day processing of their transcripts. SACA Contributes to Transplant Fund for Chiropractic Student
The Student American Chiropractic Association (SACA) recently contributed $300 to the Stephen Johnson Health Expense Relief Fund using money raised through various efforts such as Chiro-Olympics. SACA chapters across the country were asked to participate in the fund raiser, and so far donations have been made by Northwestern College Student ACA and Life West ACA. Stephen Johnson is an eighth trimester student who is waiting to receive a pancreatic transplant in hope of correcting his diabetes and the related complications. CCCKC Endowment Fund Tops $1 Million
Cleveland Chiropractic College of Kansas City (CCCKC)'s endowment fund recently topped the $1 million mark with a donation from alumnus Dr. Ethel B. Stalling, vice chair of the CCCKC board of trustees. She made the donation during the college's "Million Dollar Homecoming '91."
"The endowment fund secures the advancement of Cleveland College," said president Carl S. Cleveland III. "Those who have donated to the fund are ensuring the education of the future leaders of this great profession." Dr. Charles Eddy, homecoming event chair and CCCKC board of trustees member said, "There could not have been a more appropriate million-dollar donor than Dr. Stalling -- she's done so much for Cleveland College."
