Minnesota Governor Appoints DC to Health Care Commission

Dr. Gerald Brost of Medina, Minnesota has been appointed by Minnesota Governor Arne Carlson to the state's Health Care Commission. The four-year appointment became effective July 13, 1992. The Minnesota Health Care Commission has taken the task of reducing growth in health care spending by 10 percent a year for five years, beginning in 1993. It will also seek to increase access to health care, as required by 1992 Minnesota legislation. Dr. Brost, a 1979 Northwestern College of Chiropractic graduate, is chairman of the American Spine Foundation, and a member of the Ethics Committee of the Minnesota Chiropractic Association.

 


PCRF Names Chiropractor of the Year

The Parker Chiropractic Research Foundation (PCRF) recently named Dr. M. Ted Morter Jr. "Chiropractor of the Year." Dr. Morter is the owner and chief executive officer of Morter HealthSystem, as well as the developer of the "Morter B.E.S.T. Technique." The award presentation was by Dr. James W. Parker, PCRF president and founder, who cited Dr. Morter's work in research and education.

 


Life Administrators Participate in CASE Program

Life College's Senior Vice President for Development, Dr. D.D. Humber, and Alumni Director J. David Dunagan, recently participated in the national Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE)'s Premier Program for Senior Professionals held in Atlanta. CASE is an international association of colleges, universities, and independent elementary and secondary schools. Professionals from these institutions represent and exchange ideas from the fields of alumni administration, fund raising, government relations, public relations, and student recruitment.

 


CCCKC Expands Facilities with New Building Purchase

Cleveland Chiropractic College of Kansas City (CCCKC) recently purchased a two-building medical office complex one block from its main campus. The property contains 72,528 sq. feet and a 200-car parking garage. CCCKC has leased space in this complex for the past two years, housing a technique lab and offices for faculty in the division of Basic Sciences. "The facility will presently handle interim growth, and will serve as a clinic at such time that the college identifies a site for relocation of the main campus," said CCCKC President Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III.

 


Sherman Sponsors National Subluxation Conference

Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic (SCSC) will sponsor the first annual National Subluxation Conference on October 3-4, 1992 in Greenville, South Carolina. Individual conference topics will include: the definition of subluxation; the physiological effects of subluxation research; the type of force appropriate for subluxation correction; and the contribution each model of subluxation makes to chiropractic.

Each session will conclude with a panel discussion moderated by Robert Wagnon, Ph.D., SCSC director of research, and David Koch, D.C., SCSC associate professor and chairman of philosophy. Dr. Koch will give the keynote address, "Vertebral Subluxation and the Wyndham Conference Document."
