ACA Sports Council Inducts Fourth Member

Joseph A. Santiago, D.C., of Newark, New Jersey is the fourth member inducted into the American Chiropractic Association (ACA)'s Chiropractic Sports Medicine Hall of Fame.

Dr. Santiago, a 1940 graduate of Logan College, is celebrating his 51st year in practice.

He was one of the first chiropractors to pioneer the application of biomechanics and sports injuries.

Since 1951, Dr. Santiago has been the league physician for the Newark Police Athletic League and actively involved in the care of athletes. He has been league physician for the semi-professional Schaefer Soccer League for 25 years. He serves as the medical director for the Newark City Marathon and Cherry Blossom races, and for Pop Warner Football in Newark.

Presently a member of the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness in New Jersey, Dr. Santiago is an associate professor in chiropractic sports medicine at New York Chiropractic College (NYCC). Since 1979, he has taught the NYCC Sports Injury Certification program, and has had considerable input in the development of the diplomate program. He is a former staff physician to the New Jersey State Athletic Commission.

Dr. Santiago has been awared fellowship in the International College of Chiropractic and is a member of the Federation Internationale de Chiropratique Sportive
