College President's Opinion Poll: (DC asks, "How Do You Feel?")

The recent controversy focusing on the utilization of practice consultants, more specifically the utilization of practice consultants by students while still in school, has elicited an overwhelming (almost titanic) response from the profession. Opinions range from the rational and thoughtful to the heated and emotional tirade that often accompany controversial topics.

Dynamic Chiropractic published a sample of some of the written renderings on the subject (April 25, 1990, Vol. 8, No. 9 issue) from the clients (both satisfied and sorry) of PMA. In an effort to present a different bias and because of the fact that many times students are the naive "target market" of some practice consultants, DC wrote a letter polling chiropractic's college presidents. We asked, "...how do you feel regarding students signing contracts with practice management consultants while they are still in school?"

Out of the 14 college presidents polled, all responded with enthusiasm and surprising candor, with the exception of 2. President Sid Williams of Life Chiropractic College and Dr. William Dallas of Western States refused to comment or participate.
