William L. Wilke, CFA, Named Interim Chancellor for Palmer College of Chiropractic

By Editorial Staff

December 4, 2008 - In response to the resignation of Palmer College of Chiropractic Chancellor Larry Patten on December 3, 2008, the Palmer Board of Trustees has appointed William L. Wilke, CFA, to serve as the College's interim chancellor.

"Mr. Wilke has been a valuable member of the Board's Executive Committee and has led the Finance and Operations Committee for several years," said Board Chairman Trevor Ireland, D.C. "The Board felt that his experience and management style would serve us well as we enter this period of transition."

Mr. Wilke, a respected Quad-City area businessman and a member of the Palmer Board of Trustees since 1998, has taken an immediate leave of absence from the Board to serve in this interim role.

"I'm delighted to have the opportunity to serve the premier institution in chiropractic education in this new way," said Mr. Wilke. "There is a great deal of momentum and strength within the administration, our faculty and staff, and certainly the student body. It's my intent to keep us moving down that same path."

This process, which will include a nationwide search and examine both internal and external candidates, is expected to take up to nine months.

Mr. Wilke holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and a master's degree in economics from the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. After serving as a pilot in the U.S. Navy, he went on to hold a variety of senior management positions in manufacturing, service and financial corporations throughout the Midwest. In 2003, following a brief retirement, he became an executive coach and consultant through Management Resource Group in Davenport, Iowa.

He currently serves on the boards for DavenportOne and the Adler Theatre Foundation. He also has served as Chairman of the Board for both the Davenport Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Davenport Development Corporation.
