Brian Davis and Sarah Hudak, both students at Life University, recently tied the proverbial knot, but with a twist that demonstrates their support for the profession they will soon enter: In addition to asking their wedding guests for donations to the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress, the couple contributed to the FCP in lieu of the traditional party favors for wedding guests.
"Everyone spends money on weddings; if we are going to spend the money anyway, we would rather spend it on a good cause," said Hudak. "As we get into practice, we plan on continuing to contribute, but for right now we figured this would be the best way to reach out and do something positive for chiropractic."
The couple, who met at school and were married on May 2 of this year, plan on opening a practice in Mount Pleasant, S.C., when they graduate in December, focusing on brain-based chiropractic and functional neurology.
If you missed our last issue, the top story highlighted the foundation, particularly the media impressions the Jerry Rice campaign has realized since its launch: more than 150 million and counting as of mid-July. And the foundation has just announced that in July, its multiple media outreaches - the Rice and Becky Halstead campaigns, as well as releases on the effectiveness of chiropractic care for neck pain, the danger of high heels, the proper handbag for avoiding injury, and suggestions to prevent cell phone elbow -generated 55 million total impressions.
