ACA Fills Vacant EVP Position
The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) has named William K. O'Connell executive vice president. O'Connell, who assumed the position March 15, succeeds Kevin Corcoran, who stepped down in May of last year.
"I am very excited to welcome Mr. O'Connell to ACA and the chiropractic community," said Dr. Rick McMichael, association president. "His successful track record of creating partnerships and coalitions and working with legislators on the Hill will be a real asset to the ACA.
"Bill is committed to helping us lead ACA toward our positive vision for the profession," Dr. McMichael continued, "as we fight to end discrimination against chiropractic doctors and patients and continue our efforts toward the equitable inclusion of chiropractic care in national health care reform legislation."
Logan Appoints New Vice President of Academic Affairs
Robert Scott, DC, PhD, who had been serving as vice president of academic affairs at Life University, has been appointed to the same position at Logan College of Chiropractic. As a current member of the Council on Chiropractic Education Site Team Academy and past chair of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges Chief Academic Officers Committee, Dr. Scott has significant international experience relative to chiropractic education and legislative endeavors.
"As a Doctor of Chiropractic and a PhD, Dr. Scott is eminently qualified to direct Logan's office of academic affairs," said Dr. George Goodman, president of Logan College. "His experience and knowledge will help guide Logan into new areas of opportunity and growth."
Cleveland's Master of Science in Health Promotion Degree Program to Launch This Fall
Cleveland Chiropractic College has received approval from the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools to commence its Master of Science in Health Promotion degree program, and Dr. Karen Doyle has been selected to direct the program at the Kansas City campus. Dr. Doyle previously served as health promotions coordinator at Western Missouri Medical Center and taught at the University of Central Missouri (Department of Health and Human Performance) for more than 10 years.
"Dr. Doyle's extensive knowledge in worksite wellness and health promotion programs, coupled with years of experience in the field, qualifies her as an ideal choice to chair this new post," said Dr. Carl S. Cleveland III, president of Cleveland Chiropractic College (Kansas City and Los Angeles campuses).
The college will launch the new degree program in September.
