Dynamic Chiropractic – July 1, 2016, Vol. 34, Issue 13

A Different Way of Looking at It

By Donald M. Petersen Jr., BS, HCD(hc), FICC(h), Publisher

The way you and your chiropractic colleagues access information has changed over the past decade. According to a recent survey conducted by Dynamic Chiropractic, almost half (48 percent) of DCs read online articles on their personal computer or laptop daily.

Tablet and smartphone reading are also on the rise, with 23 percent and 25 percent daily online article readership, respectively.1

That same survey revealed just over 70 percent of the profession read half or more of the chiropractic publication print issues they receive. And while most DCs (78 percent) choose Dynamic Chiropractic as the publication they are "most likely to read," this data supports our need to get your chiropractic news and information online sooner – and on platforms that support all devices.

Get DC Sooner, Read It on Any Mobile Device

Beginning with this edition, you will be able to read each issue of Dynamic Chiropractic on your personal computer, laptop, tablet and smartphone… and, you will be able to read it sooner. For example, the digital edition of this edition of DC (July) was available for advance reading on your favorite device as of June 6.

The same holds true for DC Practice Insights, which was also available on your favorite device ahead of print release, with the July digital issue available as of May 31.

These digital issues are essentially coming directly from us to you via a sophisticated digital publishing platform. They look and (digitally) feel like the print versions, but they are available on almost every device you use.

If you are like me, you have your smartphone with you almost if not all) the time. But while it works well for short emails and quick Web searches, my cell is really not ideal for in-depth reading.

According to a report by the Pew Research Center, "Twice as many tablet news users regularly read in-depth articles on their tablet as do smartphone news users, 21% versus 11%, and 19% of tablet users even do so daily." The authors note, "nearly seven in ten [tablet readers], 69%, end up reading one or more articles at least a fair amount of the time, including 17% who do so almost all of the time."2

So, while you can read the digital versions of Dynamic Chiropractic and DC Practice Insights on your smartphone, you will probably enjoy them more on your laptop, personal computer and tablet, and suffer considerably less eye strain.

The Power of "News Alerts"

To ensure you get the latest issue as soon as possible, we have created "News Alerts." These are email announcements that advise you as soon as each digital edition is available online. Signing up for News Alerts is simple:

www.dynamicchiropractic.com/alert

www.dcpracticeinsights.com/alert

Please note that advance access to the digital edition is only available by signing up for News Alerts.

Needless to say, there is a considerable amount of additional work that goes into creating digital editions, but this is part of an important transition to more immediate delivery of the news and information you need for your practice. As part of this transition, Dynamic Chiropractic will begin publishing once a month, rather than twice a month. This will allow us to focus on providing more immediate digital news and information for readers who prefer digital.

For readers who prefer print, we will continue to publish the print edition of DC every month. The only real difference is that it will take the U.S. Postal Service a little longer to get each issue to you.

We appreciate your continued trust and support as we make these important transitions. Please take the time to subscribe to the News Alerts and explore our digital editions.
