Multiple Top Honors for NCMIC
NCMIC Group is on a roll when it comes to business recognition, with multiple top honors in the Des Moines Business Record's annual "Best of Des Moines" (Iowa) poll and high placement in the Des Moines Register's "Top Workplace" rankings.
In addition to the local honors, NCMIC was recognized as a top business statewide, placing No. 11 on the Register's Top Workplace rankings, which honors the best midsize workplaces in Iowa.
"Our employees know that NCMIC is a great place to work," said NCMIC CEO Mike McCoy in a press release announcing the honors. "And we're delighted that this recognition will help us showcase all the great things happen here. We're extremely proud of our culture as well as our employees. They're one of the reasons we've been voted best place to work and the reason we have a bright future."
F4CP Continues Making Waves in PR Industry
For the second straight year, the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress has received honorable mention in the PR Daily's Nonprofit PR Awards, presented by Ragan Communications, a top provider of in-person and online training for PR and other professionals. The F4CP received the award in the Annual Report category for its 2019 report.
"What an honor it is for F4CP to be recognized as an honorable mention by such an esteemed organization like Ragan," said F4CP President Sherry McAllister, DC. "We stand alongside an incredible lineup of 2020 recipients, including No Fixed Address, Children's Health, Megaworld Foundation, No Kid Hungry and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals."
ChiroHealthUSA Awards 2020 Student Scholarship
Palmer College of Chiropractic student Jared Ollis' student-loan debt won't be as challenging courtesy of a $15,000 scholarship from ChiroHealthUSA. Jared, a former paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division, discovered his passion for chiropractic while witnessing the musculoskeletal consequences of life as a paratrooper. "Seeing so many men and women I served with discharged for musculoskeletal complaints that could have been managed with chiropractic care further developed my desire to help service members have better access to chiropractic," he said in a ChiroHealthUSA press release announcing the 2020 scholarship recipient.
The annual Foxworth Family scholarship, part of a $25,000 total award this year that included $10,000 to the school, was established to honor of company President Dr. Ray Foxworth's parents, Drs. Betty Pace Matthews and Charles Vernon Matthews. The application window for the 2021 scholarship opened on Sept. 1, with a submission deadline of April 30, 2021. Dr. Carl Cleveland III, president of Cleveland University – Kansas City, and the entire university community are mourning the loss of Dr. Ruth Sandefur, who passed away on Sept. 15. A 1967 graduate of Cleveland-KC, Dr. Sandefur returned to her alma mater in 1983 as associate professor of diagnostics, then served as associate research director and later, as academic dean. She retired in 2010 as vice president for academic affairs. She remained active with the college after retirement, working on special projects in the Cleveland archives and serving as historical collections associate from 2012 until her passing.
In announcing her death, the university stated: "For more than 50 years, hers was a life dedicated to chiropractic. Her passing is a tremendous loss for the University and the profession."
