FCLB to Meet in Denver for Annual Congress

The Federation of Chiropractic Licensing Boards (FCLB) will convene April 21-25, 1993 in Denver, Colorado, marking the 60th anniversary meeting.

Colorado Attorney General Gale Norton, the first woman in the state's history to hold that office, will open the Congress with a presentation on Colorado's Consumer Fraud Hotline.

Special agents from the FBI's Health Care Fraud Subunit will also be in attendance to describe their program and to explain how licensing boards can work effectively with the FBI to prevent fraud.

During the Congress, the FCLB will also be unveiling its new international computer network. Hands-on training by computer consultant Peter Sawtell will be available. Mr. Sawtell will share pertinent licensing information, and will discuss how to research doctors who have violated the public interest. This is a training program which will not be repeated, so the FCLB urges both private practitioners and licensing board members to attend.

The "3rd Annual Joseph Janse Lecture" will be given by Dr. Andre Audette, past president of the Canadian Federation of Chiropractic Regulatory Board, and a principal developer of the new five-year PhD chiropractic program at the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres (see Jan. 29, 1993 issue).

Dr. Bill Dold, immediate past board president of Colorado's Licensing Board, will describe a practical test structure with a greater legal defensibility.

Wisconsin Licensing Board Chair Dr. Meredith Bakke, along with the Board's Director Ramona Weakland Warden, will describe the ongoing process in Wisconsin to develop regulations to control radical practitioners operating outside the state's scope of chiropractic practice.

Russell Porter, PhD candidate and researcher, and Dr. David Brown, member of the Virginia Licensing Board, will present the Virgina Board of Medicine's study of licensing boards. This is the first objective national analysis of its kind.

  • NBCE's program updates on Part II, SPEC, Part IV Feasibility Study

     

  • A new board member orientation

     

  • An attorneys' roundtable breakfast
