Moment of Silence for Diane Winterstein

By Editorial Staff
Mrs. Diane Winterstein, wife of Dr. Jim Winterstein, president of the National University of Health Sciences (NUHS) in Lombard, Illinois, passed away on August 27 after a nine-year battle against cancer.

From 1993-1998, Mrs. Winterstein worked in a hospice program as a certified nursing assistant, and later as a volunteer. The NUHS Board of Trustees conferred upon her an honorary doctor of humane letters degree in 2000, in recognition of her "integrity, courteousness, civility and kindness" as a result of this work and her numerous contributions to the school.

As an active supporter of NUHS and the chiropractic profession, Diane hosted the President's Cabinet Internationale at the Winterstein home, and was honored with a service commendation from the alumni association during the 2002 homecoming.

Shortly before her passing, Mrs. Winterstein returned home, and was cared for by the same hospice program for which she helped others.
