Chiropractic Division at Doctors' Hospital Honored by New York City Council

By Editorial Staff
New York City Council member, Stephen Fiala (Staten Island), issued a proclamation on behalf of the council to honor the Division of Chiropractic at Doctors' Hospital of Staten Island. The proclamation is a commendation for chiropractic's "exemplary record" in the hospital setting.

The proclamation reads in part:

Since the commencement of the Division of Chiropractic, Department of Medicine at Doctors' Hospital of Staten Island in 1997, patients have benefited from the pairing of traditional orthodox allopathic medicine, with complementary alternative chiropractic. Patients receive safe, efficient and cost-effective care.

This teaming together of chiropractors and medical doctors marks historic progress in health care, allowing greater communication between the doctors of different disciplines out of concern for the patient. This communication fosters certain understandings between the professions that help to diffuse any prejudices against patients who may desire both chiropractic and medical care.

The DCs on staff at Doctors' Hospital are:
  • Victor Dolan (chief of chiropractic)
  • Paul Bambara
  • Curtis Blumenthal
  • Steven Breines
  • Bruce Eisenberg
  • Erik Flamm
  • James Guariglia
  • Richard McAlister
  • Stephen McGee
  • Ira Shapiro
