A Chiropractor in Congress -- The Time Has Come

By Paul Phillips
Editor's note: "Chiropractic's Triple Threat" in the Feb. 9, 1998 issue of DC introduced the three chiropractic candidates running for the U.S. Congress: DCs Meredith Bakke (R-Wis); Peter Ferguson (D-Ohio); and Paul Phillips (R-Wash). Each candidate will be given an equal opportunity to speak to the profession in the pages of DC. In this issue, Dr. Paul Phillips takes that opportunity.

Dear Colleague,

I'm Paul Phillips, DC, and as you know, I am running for Congress. You have probably guessed I need your help to win this race for chiropractic. Because of your support to chiropractic issues in the past, we have made great strides here in Washington state. Now we must make those same strides in Washington, D.C.

We have never had a chiropractor elected to Congress! Don't you think it is time?

Your support at this time is vital to the success of my getting elected to Congress in 1988. Without your support, my chances are weakened.

Can I count on you and your support? If you wish to join the growing monthly supporters, please fill out the coupon and mail it to the indicated address.

There are a lot of naysayers around saying, "The chiropractic community will not support a chiropractor running for Congress." We need to come forward and prove them wrong. This can and will be a successful race for Congress, one that we as chiropractors can be enormously proud of.

Your commitment of $50, $100, $200 per month or whatever you can afford can and will ensure my election to Congress. Act now to show your support and how we as a chiropractic community and family will support one of our own. Let's give the naysayers a reason to anticipate a chiropractor in Congress.

Please do all you can today. Please send what you can. I need your help more than ever to win.

I look forward to hearing from you this month.

Sincerely,

Paul Phillips, DC
