2nd IOC World Congress on Sport Sciences

FICS Delegates Attend

By Editorial Staff
A contingent from the Federation Internationale de Chiropratique Sportive (FICS) attended the 2nd International Olympic Committee's World Congress on Sport Sciences in Barcelona, Spain October 26-31.

The delegation attended the conference to meet with members of the international sports community. The FICS members, headed by education commission chair, Brian Nook, D.C., held discussions with the Barcelona Olympic organization committee and a number of African national Olympic committees. The FICS group also met with Robert Gevers, president of the Spanish Chiropractic Association to coordinate both groups' activities for this year's Olympics.

The delegation spoke with representatives of the Mediterranean and Balkan Games about the inclusion of FICS doctors in that competition and also approached Cuban officials about the 1992 World Track and Field Championships.

The next IOC congress is scheduled for Atlanta, just prior to the 1996 Olympic Games, however the IOC may also meet during the 1994 Winter Olympic Games in Lillehammer, Norway.

Questions regarding FICS' education committee may be directed to: Dr. Brian Nook, 204 W. 2nd St., Schaller, Iowa 51053.
