Life West Triathlete Competes for Her College

By Editorial Staff
Linda Jannelli, a junior from San Diego and a competitor rated an All-American by the U.S. Triathlon Federation, will now race under the sponsorship of Life West through a partial scholarship. In addition to competing on behalf of Life West and the chiropractic profession, Linda will also be a spokesperson for health and fitness. At the Runner's Expo May 19, Linda was at Life West's booth to provide sports and health tips.

Linda was a professional triathlete from 1985 until she entered chiropractic college in 1989. She has competed in over 100 triathlons and many more road races in her career. On April 14 she set a personal 10-kilometer record of 35 minutes, 37 seconds in the Holy City 10K in Los Gatos, California. Since then, she has also won the Big Head Biathlon (a three-mile run, an 18-mile bicycle race, and another three-mile run) by a margin of 11 minutes. Linda's next athletic goal is to run the 1991 New York Marathon in the Olympic qualifying time of 2 hours, 45 minutes.

Life West Student Awarded Washington Scholarship

Life West student Brian Petersen, a junior from Belfair, Washington, was awarded a C.G. Haynes Scholarship by the Chiropractic Society of Washington. The award was announced by the Chair of the scholarship committee, David Mackey, D.C., of Bellevue, Washington.

The competitive $750 scholarships are offered to promising chiropractic students who are planning to practice in the state of Washington.

In addition to excelling academically at Life West, Brian serves as president of Life West's Philosophy Club and, as Student Ambassador for the national Parker Chiropractic Seminars, he lectures to students across the country.
