In Remembrance: Christian Ashworth Cleveland

Christian Ashworth Cleveland, the son of Dr. Carl Cleveland III, president of Cleveland Chiropractic Colleges, died unexpectedly June 25, 2008.

Born Sept. 1, 1975, Christian was the youngest of six siblings. At the time of his passing, he was employed at Cleveland Chiropractic College as the institution's professional development associate.

In lieu of flowers, the Cleveland family has requested that donations be sent in Christian's name to Atchison Valley Hope, a substance-abuse treatment center, or to the Christian Ashworth Cleveland Memorial Scholarship fund at Cleveland Chiropractic College of Kansas City. Visitation was held Sunday, June 29, 2008 at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Johnson County Chapel in Overland Park, Kan.

Taking Care of Our Own

The major chiropractic associations are all working to provide active-duty personnel and veterans with fully covered, no-hassle access to chiropractic care. Our men and women in uniform returning from Iraq and Afghanistan can use our help, and they can use that help right now.

Houston chiropractor Dr. R.J. Kelly, southern regional director of the International Chiropractors Association, is encouraging doctors of chiropractic to volunteer to provide one year of free, unlimited chiropractic care to any returning Iraq and Afghanistan veteran who wants it. Dr. Kelly asks interested doctors to contact the ICA (703-528-5000 or "> ) for additional details. A list of participating DCs is available on the ICA Web site (www.chiropractic.org), and public service announcements will be released to inform veterans about the program. Veterans will be able to call the nearest participating DC and sign up for care.

Note: You don't have to be an ICA member to participate. This program is intended to be a simple way for the entire profession to tell our returning war veterans, "Welcome home," and provide one year of chiropractic care without financial burden, gatekeepers or administrative hoops through which to jump.
