The Next Generation of Chiropractic Researchers: Historic NIH Grant
Two Palmer chiropractors will join an interdisciplinary research team courtesy of NIH funding designed to provide in-depth research experiences for DCs.
"This funding is intended to begin a pipeline of clinician-scientists who'll gain valuable experience through mentored-research fellowships in the PCCR and beyond," said Cynthia R. Long, PhD, director of the Palmer Center for Chiropractic Research and co-principal investigator on the study.
Cleveland University – Kansas City VP Joins CCE Site Accreditation Team
Dr. Cheryl Carpenter-Davis, vice president of academic affairs at Cleveland University - Kansas City, has been named to the Council on Chiropractic Education's Academy of the Site Team Visitors. According to the council, the academy "is comprised of individuals qualified to review institutions of higher education in one or more of the following categories; Mission/Purpose, Planning, and Program Effectiveness; Ethics and Integrity; Governance and Administration; Facilities/Resources; Faculty; Student/Resident Support Services; Student Admissions/Resident Selection; Curriculum, Clinical Training, Competencies, and Outcomes Assessment, to include the Meta-Competencies; Research and Scholarship; Service; Distance and Correspondence Education, Duty Hours, and Completion Designation."
NUHS Opens Second Veterans Clinic
National University of Health Sciences has opened its second veterans clinic, this one at the NUHS Whole Health Center in Pinellas Park, Fla. The Florida clinic will join its sister clinic in Lombard, Ill., in treating a wide variety of injuries and disorders that affect combat veterans.
"NUHS is thrilled to open the new Veteran's Clinic in Florida, because these services have made such a positive difference for our veterans in Illinois. We are able to provide greater access to care and an increased scope of services," said Daniel Strauss, DC, dean of the College of Professional Studies, National University-Florida.
R.I. Chiro. Society Celebrates 100 years
In advance of the chiropractic organization's 100-year anniversary (Sept. 22, 2018), Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo and the Rhode Island General Assembly both issued proclamations declaring Sept. 16-22 "Chiropractic Society of Rhode Island Week."
"The Governor and the General Assembly have been supportive in our efforts to get insurance companies to include chiropractic as part of their health benefits packages," said Dr. David Dwyer, president of the society. "We appreciate those efforts and are grateful for the proclamation as [we] celebrate this very significant milestone."
