A History-Making Tokyo Olympics for Chiropractic

By Editorial Staff

The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress' chiropractic commercial ran an additional 10 times during NBC Sports' airing of "Return to Tokyo" on Aug. 8, 2021, bringing the total number of times the chiropractic commercial ultimately aired in the United States during this year's Tokyo Olympics to an impressive 25. The 30-second chiropractic TV commercial aired 15 times from July 26-30 on the NBC, USA and NBC Sports channels (five times on each network) during prime-time broadcasting of the Tokyo Games.

(A five-second "brought to you by the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress" animated billboard also ran following various advertisements during the Olympics – multiple times on each channel).

An estimated 204 million individuals saw chiropractic's commercial when it aired five days during the Summer Olympics. The additional 10 placements during "Return to Tokyo" are expected to yield another 2.57 million impressions, making this the most nationally aired U.S. television campaign in chiropractic's history. While originally scheduled to air in the United States only, the chiropractic commercial ultimately aired in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Japan, Brazil, Uganda and many European countries as well.

The site is designed to educate consumers about chiropractic, and provides a directory search to find a DC and an opportunity to learn how to become a chiropractor.

The commercial tells the real-life experience of Dr. Erica Witter-Davis, who made the decision to become a doctor of chiropractic after her interaction with the team chiropractor during her competition (track – sprints) at the Sydney Olympic Games in 2000. Doctors and chiropractic students can still download the commercial to promote chiropractic in their community by visiting www.f4cp.org/olympics.

Special thanks to the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE) for supporting the placement of this historic commercial; and to NCMIC, Standard Process, Foot Levelers and ChiroHealthUSA for generously sponsoring its production.
