Insurance companies have requested coding advice from the ACA in the past, but this marks the first time a medical review organization has sought such counsel. Following the meeting, Bloodhound officials expressed their delight at the depth of ACA's coding and billing policies, as well as its knowledge of the American Medical Association's CPT code process. Bloodhound also assured the ACA that it plans to continue reviewing ACA coding policy to ensure consistency with its own coding edits.
"We are very grateful that Bloodhound came to us to make sure they are on the right track with our doctors," commented ACA President Donald Krippendorf, DC. "It's a very positive step. I sincerely hope they are the first of many insurance medical review companies to come to us."
Colorado Chiropractic Association Elects New President
Dr. Richard Gingras, a 1976 graduate of Palmer Chiropractic College, was elected president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association (CCA) at the organization's 69th annual convention, held Sept. 13 in Denver.
Following his graduation, Dr. Gingras operated a practice in Pensacola, Fla., for more than 20 years. In 1997, he moved to Colorado and established the first chiropractic practice in the town of Highlands Ranch. He quickly became immersed in the association's activities, serving as chair of the CCA's membership committee, a member of its executive committee, and as a director at large.
In addition to electing a new president, the CCA recognized six chiropractors with awards at its September convention:
- Chiropractor of the Year - Dr. Richard Kuehn
- Young Chiropractor of the Year (awarded to a Colorado DC in practice for less than 10 years) - Dr. Anthony Albright
- Distinguished Service Award - Dr. Greg Page
- Chiropractic Sports Award - Dr. Monty Wilburn
- Community Service Award - Dr. Lee Dimick
- Frank Elliott Pioneer Award - Dr. Robert Ohlson
