In a letter to David Chapman-Smith, secretary-general of the World Federation of Chiropractic (WFC), Dr. Lee related the Korean DCs had met several times for organizational purposes since last winter, and commended the "active works of WFC" worldwide in giving their fledgling association the "vigor in the process of organization."
"Finally," reported Dr. Lee, "we reached the agreement of passing the constitutions and bylaws of the KCA February 27, 1993."
Dr. Lee also acknowledged that the chiropractic legislation passed in Hong Kong "encouraged us very much on the future of chiropractic in Korea." This past February, the Hong Kong Legislative Council passed a Chiropractic Registration Bill that mandated the local government set up a Chiropractic Council to register and regulate the profession of chiropractic in Hong Kong (please see "DCs Gain Legislative Recognition in Hong Kong in the March 12, 1993 issue of "DC").
Young-Serb Song, DC has been elected president of the KCA and Myeong Jong Lee, DC as Secretary. Both will serve two year- terms beginning March 1, 1993.
The KCA has applied for membership in the World Federation as the sole chiropractic association in Korea. The organization is anticipating future chiropractic legislation that will provide licensure for chiropractors in Korea.
