Keiser University, a 20,000-student private, nonprofit university founded in 1977 and boasting campuses in 18 Florida metropolitan communities, has announced it is adding a College of Chiropractic at its residential campus in West Palm Beach, with the inaugural class scheduled to begin studies in September 2016.
"I am excited to help provide the leadership for the development of this new program," said Dr. Wiles, a graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, in a press release from Keiser announcing the new program. "Keiser University is committed to a 'students first' philosophy, which will be a foundational principle of the Doctor of Chiropractic program. I want to treat our students the same way we want our graduates to treat their patients. With the commitment of Keiser University to its students and academic excellence, the institution presents an ideal setting for the development of a new College of Chiropractic."
In addition to his position at TCC, Dr. Wiles has extensive experience within chiropractic education, including serving as chairman and associate professor at CMCC; and several positions at Northwestern Health Sciences University: first as dean of the College of Chiropractic, then as provost and vice president for academic affairs at the college.
According to Keiser University, program approval is currently pending from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. We reached out to the university for specifics regarding the chiropractic degree program; as well as the Council on Chiropractic Education, to learn more about Keiser's College of Chiropractic and the CCE's involvement in the program's development, including a timeline for accreditation. As of press time, we were awaiting response from both entities and will provide information in a future issue as details become available.
Overall, Keiser University offers 100 degrees from the associate to doctorate level. With the launch of the new chiropractic degree program, Keiser now offers 11 doctoral degrees in psychology, nursing practice, educational leadership, business administration and other fields.
