The college began a mortgage fundraising campaign earlier this year.
"Sherman College has reached a significant milestone in becoming a debt-free campus for the first time since it was founded in 1973," said Dr. Jerry Hardee, president of the college. "Becoming a debt-free campus will enable us to launch a multimillion-dollar fundraising campaign that will further ensure our future."
Logan Researchers Published in JNMS
CHESTERFIELD, MO - Logan faculty members and radiology department residents have collaborated on a pilot study published in the summer 2002 Journal of the Neuromusculoskeletal System (JNMS). It is titled: "Reliability Study of the Penning Method for Cervical Intersegmental Motion Assessment."
The authors of the pilot study are Melanie Osterhouse (radiology resident); Rodger Tepe,PhD (associate professor, research department and clinical science division); Norman Kettner,DC,DACBR (radiology chairman); and Michael McVey (radiology resident).
The JNMS summer issue is devoted to diagnostic imaging. The "Grand Rounds" section of the journal includes "Active or Inactive Spondylolysis and/or Spondylolisthesis: What's the Real Cause of Back Pain?" written by Logan postgraduate faculty member and alumnus Thomas Hyde, DC,DACBSP, with Thomas Bergmann,DC, and Terry Yochum, DC,DACBR. Dr. Kettner also contributed editorial commentary ("Diagnostic Imaging: What's on the Horizon? A View from a Chiropractic Radiologist").
South Carolina Honors its Own
COLUMBIA, SC - The South Carolina Chiropractic Association (SCCA) annual convention awards banquet was held at Myrtle Beach on June 1. Dr. John Davila, of Georgetown, was named "2001-2002 Chiropractor of the Year." Dr. Davila, a Palmer graduate, was recognized for his work in educating the membership on insurance issues. He was selected by a vote of the membership via a closed ballot.

Dr. Brad Fraum, Hilton Head - Director of the Year
Dr. Mark Escobedo, Columbia - Young Chiropractor of the Year
Dr. Cohen is president-elect of the SCCA, and with Dr. Escobedo, has been involved in the SCCA Annual Legislative Golf Tournament ("Tee It Up for Chiropractic") held since 1998, helping to raise over $140,000. Dr. Fraum was also re-elected director of district one, and is a former chiropractor for Lennox Lewis, world heavyweight boxing champion.
The SCCA membership comprises approximately 350 doctors.
