Georgia Council Elects Officers, Names Doctor of Year
During its recent convention, the Georgia Council on Chiropractic (GCC) elected new officers and bestowed several honors.
Other GCC officers elected were Dr. Glenda Dukes, secretary; Dr. Steve Nuddleman, treasurer; Dr. William Willis, past president.
Dr. Rod Justice was a new addition to GCC's board of directors. The re-elected members were Drs. Harvey Fish, Ellis Kooby, Cheryl Langley, and Joe Gregory.
The GCC members named Dr. William Willis "Chiropractor of the Year." Life College student Shannon Starman was presented with the first GCC/Richard Kimbrough Memorial Scholarship. Wendy Whitehead was honored with the title of "Chiropractic Assistant of the Year," and was saluted for her work as an officer with the chiropractic assistant division of the GCC. She plans to attend Life College.

Tennessee Assoc. Honors Marla Roberds
The Tennessee Chiropractic Association (TCA) held its annual convention in Nashville where the association honored Marla Roberds, TCA auxiliary president and co-host of the syndicated radio program "Second Opinion," as TCA's "Chiropractic Woman of the Year." Joining her at the TCA black-tie even were her husband Dr. Allen Roberds, host of "Second Opinion" and the evening's keynote speaker, and their three children Jennifer, Claire, and Ben.

Life student Greg Sylvestri won his weight division at the 1994 Benchpressing World Championships in Albany, New York, with a lift of 520 pounds.
Life Student Throws His Weight Around
With less than one year of powerlifting competition, Life student Greg Sylvestri, 24, of Coconut Creek, Florida, qualified for the Benchpressing World Championships with a 510 benchpress at a Florida meet and a 530 effort at the South Carolina State Championships. At the World Championships in New York, Greg came through to win his weight division with a lift of 520 pounds.
Greg has high expectations: to compete in the Olympics in Atlanta in 1996. In the meantime, Life College is sponsoring Greg and recently hosted the Southern USA Championships October 15.
Greg was introduced to chiropractic by Dr. Trisha Gallo, and is currently under the care of Dr. Cheryl Stanley. Life's strength and training coach Don Chiapetta has been monitoring Greg's workouts.
Scholarships Awarded at ABCA Convention
Life College students of the Harvey Lillard Society were awarded scholarships at the 13th annual American Black Chiropractors Association (ABCA) convention in Irvine, California. Bernadette Merrick received a $500 ICA scholarship, while Althea Brown and Connie Lynch each received a $500 ACA scholarship. The Women's Auxiliary awarded Leveva Foster and Joel Welliford $500 scholarships. Los Angeles Chiropractic College awarded a $1,000 scholarship to past student regional representative Carlton Middleton, and $500 to Debra Jones.
Other ABCA convention news included the election of Life's Bernadette Merrick as student regional representative and a presentation to Mary Jane Berrien, assistant student advisor for the Harvey Lillard Society, for her dedication to the ABCA and students in chiropractic.
Dr. Williams Publishes Chiropractic Overview
Dr. Sid Williams, founder and president of Life College, has published, Looking Back to See Ahead: Editorials on Chiropractic Science, Philosophy, and Principle, with Essays on Leadership and Motivation, a 1,024 page volume covering nearly four decades of chiropractic history.
