American Black Chiropractic Association Holds 11th Annual Convention

The American Black Chiropractic Association (ABCA) awarded seven academic scholarships, and honored Dr. Herman Glass II as the ABCA's 1992 "Chiropractor of the Year" during the 11th annual convention in Atlanta, Georgia, August 19-23.

Dick Gregory, well-known comedian, social commentator, and author was the keynote speaker at the awards banquet.

The ACA awarded $7,500 in scholarships and the ICA awarded $3,000 in scholarships.

Dr. Glass initiated the scholarship awards for continued educational advancement to minority students. He was the ABCA's 1992 "Chiropractor of the Year," and the first black DC to serve on the Michigan State Board of Examiners, as well as the first black DC to obtain hospital privileges in the state of Michigan. Dr. Glass is ABCA's immediate past president (1990-1992) and former ABCA vice president (1988-1990).

Dr. Glass is a chiropractic consultant to Blue Cross/Blue Shield and a staff physician at New Center Hospital. He also serves as an adjunct professor to Texas Chiropractic College.

Said Dr. Alfred A. Davis, ABCA president, "Dr. Glass was selected for many first-time, landmark achievements as a black chiropractor."
