While chiropractic college enrollment has been an ongoing concern in recent years, Palmer College of Chiropractic reported encouraging news recently: The college surpassed its enrollment goals for fall 2014 classes at its three campuses (Davenport, Palmer West and Palmer Florida), with a 14 percent increase in new-student enrollment compared to fall 2013. Palmer West achieved its largest first-quarter class in 14 years.
"The size of the fall 2014 classes speaks to Palmer College of Chiropractic's position as the trusted leader in chiropractic education, and the quality educational experience at each Palmer campus," said Thomas Stempek, vice chancellor for enrollment. "Palmer's enrollment accounts for 21 percent of the students enrolled at all 15 U.S. chiropractic colleges."
NBCE Announces Retirement of Longtime Director of Testing
Dr. Mark Christensen, who worked for the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners as its psychometric expert for 32 years, has retired from his position. During his tenure, he spearheaded the development and implementation of the NBCE's testing program, including written, practical and post-licensure examinations, as well as the pre-chiropractic college assessment.
Named to replace Dr. Christensen at the NBCE following a nationwide search: Dr. Jungnam Kim, who achieved a doctorate in educational measurement and statistics from the University of Iowa and has worked as a research scientist in the field of competency testing.
