Miss America Candidate, Doctor of Chiropractic

Sherman College of Chiropractic and the Miss America organization have renewed their unique partnership whereby the college donates a full-tuition scholarship to each of the 51 national candidates in the Miss America Organization on an annual basis.

The award, available next to any state competition winner within Miss America who advances to compete in the 2020 Miss America Competition, is a full in-kind tuition waiver for the DC degree – a total value of $119,000 per student, according to the college.

"We are eager to reach more young leaders and share with them a health care career that embraces their commitment to serving others," said Sherman College President Edwin Cordero, DC. "I think it is especially fitting to join forces with an organization which shares our focus on service and our desire to make a positive global impact."

F4CP Announces First Global Member

The Portuguese Chiropractors Association is the first international group to enroll in the Foundation for Chiropractic Progress' Global F4CP Membership, a new initiative that "offers membership benefits to Global Leaders of chiropractic organizations outside of the U.S."

According to the foundation, "Through Global F4CP, Global Leaders receive access to Gold-Level Foundation membership benefits, as well as the right to distribute all marketing material to Association members. Extending beyond implementation, Global Leaders can utilize the Foundation's material to promote their Association as an expert chiropractic resource in their region, to build relationships with other providers, educate consumers and develop media contacts in their area."

Palmer College Continues VA Hospital Academic Affiliations

Palmer College of Chiropractic recently announced new academic affiliations with four Veterans Affairs (VA) hospitals: Mann Grandstaff Veterans Affairs Hospital (Spokane, Wash.); Tuscaloosa, Alabama Veteran's Affairs Hospital (Tuscaloosa, Ala.); Chillicothe, Ohio Veteran's Affairs Hospital (Chillicothe, Ohio) and Veteran's Affairs Pittsburgh Healthcare System (Pittsburgh, Pa.)

Since 2007, when Palmer College first formed academic affiliations with VA hospitals and Department of Defense (DoD) sites, more than 150 students from its three campuses have participated in rotations.

"Academic affiliations with VA hospitals provide our students with the honor of offering chiropractic care to U.S. veterans, while also gaining experience and additional training from staff chiropractors," said Ron Boesch, DC, CHC, CHPC executive dean of Palmer Clinics. "Acceptance to rotations is very competitive and allows students to see and participate in patient care in an integrated, multidisciplinary setting."
