The Mobile Chiropractic Field Unit is a project of Life University of (Marietta, Georgia) in conjunction with the Life Foundation and Life International. The unit was transported from Atlanta to Costa Rica in January.

Health Net Oregon Integrates Chiropractic into Basic Health Plans
Health Net Health Plan of Oregon, Inc. (HNO) is integrating complementary health care for all of its members into its basic health plan. The complementary health care benefits include chiropractic, acupuncture, naturopathic medicine and massage therapy.
HNO, formerly QualMed Oregon Health Plan, Inc., provides group and individual HMO, PPO and POS coverage to 100,000 members throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. HNO will be using the provider networks of Complementary Healthcare Plans (CHP): AcuMedNet; ChiroNet; NaturNet; and CHP Massage Therapy.

Int'l Chiropractic Pediatric Assn. Elects New Officers
The International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA), headquartered in Stone Mountain, Georgia, has elected five new officers. They are:

The ICPA is a nonprofit organization that was founded by the late Larry Webster,DC, who perceived the need for more information, training and research in the field of chiropractic pediatrics. The ICPA is an independent, nonpolitical organization composed of 1,200 chiropractors and chiropractic students throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries.
Dr. Claudia Anrig, president of the ICPA for the last three years, will concentrate her efforts on the development of a three-year diplomat program in chiropractic pediatrics.
Lutheran General Hospital Offering Alternative Medicine Training
Lutheran General Hospital, in Park Ridge, near Chicago, offers its residents a one-month rotation in complementary medicine, introducing them to chiropractic, homeopathy, and herbal remedies, among other modalities.
Don Novey,MD, director of the hospital's Center for Complementary Medicine, explained the reason for the program. "When physicians experience the complementary medicine rotation as part of their training, they are exposed to the other half of medicine. Once doctors have contact with one of the complementary treatments through this training, their comfort level increases because their knowledge base goes up."
"Many experiences with patients occur here that are not seen in traditional medical settings," observed Dr. G. Andrew Monk, a staff chiropractor.
ICAC names Dr. Cymerint "Chiropractor of the Year"
The International Chiropractors Association of California presented Mark Cymerint,DC, with its "Chiropractor of the Year" award for 1999-2000 at its annual convention in April. Dr. Cymerint has been practicing for 14 years and teaches continuing education seminars throughout the U.S.
Life Hurdler Qualifies for Olympic Trials
Robby Hughes, a junior at Life University, has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials in the 110-meter high hurdles.
Hughes, a native of Inglewood, California and formerly a student at Long Beach Community College, earned his spot in the trials with a victory at the 42nd Annual Mt. San Antonio College Relays in Walnut, CA. Hughes' time of 13.66 beat out Adrian Woodley of Syracuse University by .06 seconds.
The U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials are scheduled for July 15-20.
