First Trailer From "Pain in America" Released
Donald Barrett, producer-director of "Pain in America," the latest documentary exposing the health care crisis and suggesting the potential for chiropractic to play a vital role in the solution, has announced that the first trailer from the upcoming film was presented at Parker Seminars Las Vegas in January. According to Barrett, the trailer "was well-received and only hints at the final show – which actually may develop into a six-show mini-series."

Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association Fighting Insurer Over New Program
The Pennsylvania Chiropractic Association recently announced that full implementation of Highmark, Inc.'s Physical Medicine Management Program (PMMP) has been delayed until at least May 2013. According to the PCA, the PMMP represents "an extraordinary violation of healthcare patients' rights of choice and [has] other negative impacts upon physical medicine providers and patients' access to medically necessary care."
"For a company with Highmark's financial resources, the PMMP program is not only harmful to patients, [but] has also proven to be full of administrative problems for the health care providers subject to it," said PCA President Dr. Daniel Schatzberg. "It is troubling that this program seems to be motivated by increasing profits for an already massive company with $4 billion dollars in reserve funds.
"To implement a profit-driven program that will harm patients by interfering with their access to physical medicine services is reprehensible. Thousands of Highmark Insurance consumers will be negatively impacted by this program, as it is expected that it will deny insurance coverage for physical medicine services to many patients who will then have to turn to other covered services which may be limited to drugs or surgery. This is not acceptable for patients who prefer rehabilitative, non-invasive treatment."
