ACC Elects New Board of Directors

Dr. Ron Oberstein, president of Life Chiropractic College West, is the new chair of the Association of Chiropractic Colleges, elected at the association's recent board of directors meeting.

Joining Dr. Oberstein on the board are Dr. David Wickes, Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College president (vice chair) and Dr. Michael Mestan, New York Chiropractic College president (secretary-treasurer).Dr. Oberstein replaces Dr. Michael Ciolfi (director of the University of Bridgeport School of Chiropractic), who becomes ACC immediate past chair. David O'Bryon, JD, CAE, continues his role as ACC president.


NCMIC: Huge Success with PPP Loans

NCMIC reports that 99 percent of the 338 Payroll Protection Program loans it facilitated for DCs during round one of the program have been forgiven – nearly double the national average reported by the Small Business Administration for PPP loan forgiveness nationwide through April 2021.

"PPP loans are another way we were able to serve the chiropractic community in its time of need," said Tony Dickinson, president of NCMIC Finance Corporation. "The fact that 99% of those loans were forgiven is huge. In many instances, it's going to be the reason many DCs are able to move forward without debt after the pandemic."


WFC Announces Historic Executive Committee Addition

The World Federation of Chiropractic has announced that Dr. Kendrah da Silva, a WFC board of directors member since 2019, representing the African region, has been unanimously elected as the federation's first African executive officer, replacing WFC Vice President Dr. Michelle Maiers. Dr. Dana Lawrence will assume the board position vacated by Dr. Maiers, who stepped down to focus on her role as new American Chiropractic Association (ACA) president.

Dr. Da Silva, a 1994 graduate of Technikon Natal (now Durban University of Technology), operates a busy practice in Midrand, South Africa, and is in her third term as president of the Chiropractic Association of South Africa – the continent's largest chiropractic association.

Dr. Lawrence is the associate provost of education and research at Parker University, where he is also serves as director of the university's quality enhancement plan.
