The World Corporate Games is a 20-sport, olympic-style event where company employees trade business suits for warmup suits, and conduct athletic competitions at the regional, national, and international levels.
During the past two years, I have served as a regional event volunteer by providing pre-event adjusting, taping, icing, and tending to the related bumps and bruises of 300 competing athletes. More recently, I was appointed as the chiropractic/medical coordinator for the World Corporate Games. This leaves me responsible for the well-being of more than 1500 ahtletes from 20 countries. Sound exciting? I think so, but I could use some help.
I am currently trying to put together a support team of nearly 100 DCs, MDs, and other first-aid volunteers. I see no reason why we can't make the World Corporate Games, primarily a chiropractic- staffed event. From an athlete's viewpoint, it's cost-effective in terms of reducing injuries and allowing them to compete, and it's an excellent method of spreading the chiropractic message throughout the world.
So far, the World Corporate Games have been so well-received in its initial two summer formats, that for the first time ever, there will be a Winter Corporate Games in Steamboat Springs, Colorado in February 1991. A support staff of DCs will be needed for this exciting event as well.
