Medical authorities recently announced that the contaminant simian virus 40 found in tainted DPT vaccine samples is a dramatic breakthrough as a new genetic delivery system for future vaccines.1 The discovery of this retrovirus in the DPT samples and the subsequent revelation that it is contagious to humans (zootaxis), and has indeed infected millions, should have sparked an immediate cry of outrage in the medical and public health communities.
Of course there is no data on the effects of this induced zootaxis on the human immune system. What is clear is that in exposing human beings to a viral agent exclusive only to the simian species, scientists are breaking the immutable laws of nature with little thought of the repercussions of such acts.
The Next Generation
Don't like needles? No problem. The next generation of vaccines will most likely be genetically manipulated into our food source. A new vaccine is being developed to combat dental caries. This news is not so earth-shattering, but what makes this worthy of notice is that this vaccine is introduced via genetically manipulated potatoes and tobacco.2 Although there was no direct evidence of reducing dental caries, the limited clinical trials produced a "vigorous immune response." The product is now being slated for FDA approval in the U.S.
Genetically manipulated vaccines are part of a growing trend in the pharmaceutical industry to profit from emerging technology. While there is scarce information on their safety or utility, there is growing momentum in the industry to produce and market these products.
Given the extremely limited data regarding genetic manipulation and the absolute lack of data on the effects of genetic manipulation in humans, this new generation of vaccines is ominous in its significance. I believe that it is our duty as health care professionals to expose these dangerous and unscientific practices. It is time to inform the unsuspecting public about what is being done to them in the name of science.
