The FCLB will not be alone in Albuquerque, as the the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners (NBCE), the Association of Chiropractic Board Administrators (ACBA), and the Association of Chiropractic Colleges (ACA) have elected to host their 1991 meetings in conjunction with the FCLB meeting.
The FCLB will present an interesting and provocative group of speakers:
Keynote speaker attorney Jerald Jacobs will discuss the legal responsibilities of board members, followed by an in-depth board development workshop. Mr. Jacobs has been active in legal representation of association and corporate clients, particularly in antitrust and trade regulation matters since 1971.
Reed Phillips, D.C., will deliver the new endowed lecture series honoring Dr. Joseph Janse contributions as a great chiropractic orator. Dr. Phillips' will lecture on overutilization. Dr. Phillips is the head of research for Los Angeles Chiropractic College. He recently was named Researcher of the Year by the Foundation for Chiropractic Education and Research.
Lawrence Jack, D.C., will speak on standards of care vis-a-vis the insurance industry. Dr. Jack lectures extensively around the country to the insurance industry to promote chiropractic care in insurance coverage.
Steven Granthum, a special agent with the FBI will lecture on detecting fraudulent credentials and the various laws and regulations which assist state boards in determining when it is appropriate to involve law enforcement agencies in these cases.
Attorney John Lukens, the chief deputy district attorney for Clark County, Nevada and public member on the Nevada State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, will discuss the proper procedures examining boards should follow when conducting inquiry into cases where doctors are accused of sexual misconduct.
Arnold Ciancuilli, D.C., who serves on the board of directors for National Chiropractic Mutual Insurance Company will speak on writing licensing rules and regulations to avoid malpractice exposure.
Roz Parry, a press secretary for two Nevada governors, a television news personality in Chicago, and the first woman television anchor in Reno, will provide specific skills for board members in dealing with the media.
