The Foundation for Chiropractic Progress (F4CP) has announced a milestone in its membership, with more than 15,000 doctors of chiropractic now supporting the foundation and its PR campaign financially.

ICA Challenging New California Vaccine Law
On July 1, the International Chiropractors Association filed a lawsuit challenging California's historic mandatory vaccine law, which took effect that very day. SB 277, approved in 2015, revokes the personal-belief exemption previously allowed for parents choosing not to vaccinate their children, making medical exemptions the only legal basis to decline vaccination.
"All citizens should be very concerned not only over the specific elements of the new California law and its immediate and profound negative impact on the lives of tens of thousands of families and hundreds of thousands of children," said ICA President Dr. George Curry. "Citizens should also understand the alarming trend towards unchecked and arbitrary state-mandated medication and the removal of basic human rights and freedoms it signals."

Dr. Stephen Foster has been named 15th president of Texas Chiropractic College. A 1990 graduate of TCC with more than 25 years of service at the college, most recently as provost, Dr. Foster takes the helm following a presidential search process that began following the Oct. 31, 2015 departure of Dr. Brad McKechnie, who stepped down to resume private practice. Since that time, Larry Johnson, TCC board vice chair, had been serving as president in an interim capacity.
"It is an honor and a privilege to be entrusted by the board to lead my alma mater," said Dr. Foster. "To have such strong support from the board, faculty, staff and students is humbling and a responsibility I do not take lightly. ...TCC has a distinguished 108-year history. I look forward to working closely with the whole TCC community, especially our many alumni around the world, to ensure a bright future."
Dr. Bernadette Howlett, former chief research officer of Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences, has been appointed provost and vice president of academic affairs at the University of Western States. In making the announcement, UWS President Dr. Joseph Brimhall commented: "Dr. Howlett brings to UWS a strong background in student learning assessment, instructional design and educational technology. She has worked directly with the accreditation requirements of the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities, our regional accrediting agency. I am confident that her collaborative style and substantial expertise will guide the development and implementation of assessment and planning efforts within all of our academic programs."
